A step-by-step list of how we service your climbing shoes.
With inspecting your shoes, we will notably check the condition of the rand (i.e. the rubber covering the toe box). If it's too thin, we recommend rand repair before proceeding with a resole. Unfortunately, this is non-negotiable but we believe it is a necessary step for the longevity and quality of a repaired and resoled climbing shoe.
Otherwise it is possible you wear through the rand before wearing through a newly resoled shoe.
We use custom wooden lasts to maintain the shoe's shape during the resoling process. If one of our lasts do not fit your shoes shape, we will create a custom-fit last before proceeding with resoling.
The worn soles and, if necessary, part of the worn rand are removed.
Old rand is replaced with fresh rubber, blended to create a smooth, barely noticeable seam.
New soles (chosen for compound and thickness) are glued onto the shoe and pressed using custom machinery for a strong bond.
We grind and buff the new sole to the shoe's individual shape.
